On February 1, 2003 a band of rogue hunters headed north into the hills of Pennsylvania to search out & skin a FAST & ELUSIVE creature called a Grizzly! Members of Team Yamaha would act as guides & referees to see that this hunt is conducted fairly!
As the hunters assembled in the parking lot of K-mart near Shamokin, Pa. the Grizzly surprised the hunters & lunged out from behind the deep undergrowth surrounding the parking lot & reared up & pounced upon the rogue hunter aboard the Susuki & GROWLED & bared his massive white teeth & watched as the hunter cowlered & waited for the beast to finish him off. But the GRIZZLY had made his point & retreated & disappeared into the woods before the stunned hunters could react!
With Mike Yucha aboard his Raptor leading the way, the hunters blasted off across the mountains in search of this bold & brazen beast! Earl Mumma aboard his 400 Susuki Sport Quad roared past Mike every chance he could in an attempt to reel in the Grizzly. Not far behind was Bill Moore & his Polaris Scrambler anxious to help Earl catch & skin this brazen beast! Dave & Marty both aboard Raptor's had a grand time watching the action unfold in front of them & spin & slide all over the place in these snowy & slippery conditions!
Mike Yucha's Raptor spent much of the day getting either unstuck or careening sideways up & over one mountain after another! His rear tires were worn out!!! For weeks the others had been pimping him about his severly worn tires & as Earl would exclaim many times during the course of the day " Mike needs new sneakers" HA! HA! Since Mike was the lead referee & was usually ahead of the Grizzly to insure fair play, he constantly slowed up the Grizzly , so that on various occassions the Susuki would sneak up & grab a hand full of the Grizzly's fur & squeal with delight , thinking that he had won the fight! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
But just about the time the Susuki & Earl would get within arms reach, the Grizzly would let out a loud " GROWL " & head out across the next mountain with the fustrated hunters in hot pursuit!!!!
After a few hours of chasing the Grizzly across the mountains, the hunters decide to take a much needed break & spend the next half hour doing donuts on a small frozen pond , while the Grizzly watches with amusement from the fringes of the forest. Earl , Dave, Mike & Bill & Marty all join in on this frivolous pastime as each makes numerous passes across the pond , all the while doing 360 degree spin outs as snow is being roosted into the air!!!!! The Grizzly thinks about joining these crazy atver's , but maintains a safe distance & gets himself prepared for the next MAD dash across the mountains! Without warning, Earl & the others with a WILD gleam in thier eyes launch off the ice & head towards the resting Grizzly!
With but a few feet to spare , the Grizzly manages to avert capture & heads off across the mountains with five fast sport quad riders doing thier best to reel in the elusive Grizzly! Once over the mountain & fast approaching Mike's mountain hideaway , the hunters head off to the local gas station to refuel & get ready for one last serious attempt to catch & skin that Grizzly!
Once refueling is completed , the chase is ON!!!!!!!!!! Out across the old RXR bed & alongside the mountain at 60+ mph the hunters still can't seem to reel in & latch onto thier prey!!!! Once underneath Rt # 61 , the Grizzly heads for higher ground & the safety of the rugged mountains to slow down these pesky hunters! As the participants go higher & higher into the mountains, the snow gets deeper & DEEPER & before long the sports quads are wallowing in two foot snow drifts that provide little challenge to the Grizzly with new 26" Dirt Devil's . The Grizzly glances over his shoulder from time to time to make sure these hunters are progressing & will be OK! The Grizzly is really enjoying the jaunt across the snow covered mountains of Pa.& wants nothing bad to happen to these hardy , but pesky individuals HA! HA! NOTHING like a GOOD CHASE !!!!
Once across the last mountain the sport quads think they have the Grizzly FINALLY cornered in a dead end gulley & get ready to pounce on thier worthy adversary ! BUT the Rogue hunter on his Susuki Sport quad becomes stranded & is NOW at the mercy of the BEAST!!!!!! Earl calls out for help to Bill , but is met with dead silence!!!!!!! The Grizzly realizing the plight of the Susuki begins to bear down on the rogue hunter as he gets ready for the WORST!!! BUT the Grizzly has enjoyed the chase too much to have it end like this & instead of devouring the rogue hunter, extends a HUGE paw & frees the Susuki from the grips of this deep snow bank!
After realizing that the Grizzly had been toying with him all day in this WEATHER & this TERRAIN, the HUNT was OVER & the rest of the day was spent playfully chasing one another across the hills of Pa. ! After a great day of blasting across the hills of Pa. the Grizzly watches from the fringes of the parking lot as the hunters load up & head for home . With a big toothy grin & the wave of his mighty paws , the Grizzly bids everyone farewell & a safe trip home!!!! As the last hunter departs the parking lot , the Grizzly heads out for another 35 miles of fun & adventure with Mike Yucha & his mighty Raptor. Got to stay in shape to avoid being SKINNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HA! HA!
