| EAST COAST SPEEDBALLS Newsletter August 17, 2002 |
| Its 1:45am Saturday morning as my left eye flutters open & takes a quick glance at the large orange numbers staring out at me in the darkness. Once again the anticipation of another " GREAT ADVENTURE " with my SPEEDBALLS is more than my sleeping brain can handle & so I summon my AARP body to get up & get moving towards the hills of Pennsylvania. Before long with a glass of my wife's homemade ice tea providing the caffeine to get my motor started, I'm cruising up I-95 northbound. Following me are four more SPEEDBALLS who met me at Randy's Rib Shack in Hughesville, Md., Caleb Bailey( Raptor) & his brother Josh( 440ex), Matt ( Warrior) & Robert ( 700 Polaris Magnum). A big smile is plastered on my face , because new folks whom I met on paatving.com's forum are joining the SPEEDBALLS to have some fun & to see if the pictures on our website are for real? As I proceed north , I count to myself the number of riders that have contacted me during the last two weeks & if I'm correct , we should have 10+ riders for this GREAT ADVENTURE. The trip to Frackville, Pa. goes pretty fast & uneventful, and a little after 6:30am we rattle into Motel 6's parking lot. Gazing around the parking lot, no more SPEEDBALLS are present. So off to Granny's to feed our faces & discuss todays route, and await the arrival of the other ORV fanatics. Before long more SPEEDBALLS began to stumble through the front door & within a few minutes, Granny's is hopping as everyone says "hello" &" long time no see" & hand shakes & hugs are passed freely about! Our regular waitress also greets the SPEEDBALLS with a big hello & a " BIG WARM HUG " for Speedy Racer! HA! HA! Been a long time since this group has joined us for a ride, so more talking than eating was happening for quite awhile! HA! HA! But eventually our bellies were full, so we paid our tab & wandered back over to Motel 6 Parking lot to see & greet our new found friends. Before long , the guys from paatving.com arrive . After introductions & hellos are completed, everyone begins to get thier gear together & ORV's ready for todays GREAT ADVENTURE. Once again more folks showed up than had contacted me via e-mail or phone. Sometimes MORE, sometimes LESS!! Our new website allows all our members to know exactly where to meet & when, so they sometimes JUST show up! HE! HE! But todays rider count is " 15 " ORV fanatics!!!!! |
