| Its been a restless night between the sheets for SPEEDY RACER this cool summer night. The anticipation of a " SBO " ride with another bunch of folks I met on Paatving.com's forum , plus some of our regular Speedballs is more than my semi- consious brain can handle & so I give up trying to sleep & at 1:12am Saturday morning, I turn off my alarm & begin the process of limbering up this AARP body . Before long , the SPEEDBALL EXPRESS is headed north towards Frackville, Pa. & Motel 6 to once again greet & welcome more ORV fanatics who are itching to hit the trail with the East Coast Speed Balls & experience first hand the thrills of climbing the HUGE hills pictured on our website , or BLASTING through the tight twisty trails at break neck speeds to see if the SPEEDBALLS name is FACT or FICTION ? HA! HA! Either way, I'm STOKED for this upcoming GREAT ADVENTURE !!!!!! With the SPEED BALL EXPRESS seemingly on auto pilot , its doesn't seem like much time has passed before I see the exit sign on Rt I-81 N for " Frackville, Pa. 2 miles " . As I pull into Motel 6's parking lot I see a few rigs with quads , but no happy faces to greet me. HA! HA! So off to Granny's to fill my belly. Its 6:45 am & Granny's is quiet , but NOT for long. No sooner had my breakfeast been served than the whole one section was overflowing with old & new faces of ORV fanatics making all these strange motor sounds & all the while arms flailing in all directions as they swap tales of past ORV adventures! Granny's sure comes to life when the SPEEDBALLS come to town! HE! HE! After bellies are full & stories swapped , its off to Motel 6 parking lot to take a final head count & get organized for our ride to our new parking area for this Shamokin, Pa. GREAT ADVENTURE! Once again MORE folks show up than had been expected., but all are WELCOMED & before long our caravan is heading south on I-81 . As our happy group motors down the interstate , I glance out my rear view mirror & see 11 more rigs following the SPEED BALL EXPRESS . In less than half an hour our caravan rolls into the outskirts of Shamokin, Pa. & pulls into the abandoned parking lot of another shutted K-mart who had become the victim of Walmart's total dominance of the department store world. But one persons loss is anothers gain. K-marts demise has created another ideal launch site for the EAST COAST SPEEDBALLS. |
