| Hi SPEEDBALLS, Once again the alarm clock greets me at 2:00am with its mind rattling squeal , alerting me to the fact that its time to slip into my comfortable traveling clothes & fire up the Tahoe for the trip north to begin another " GREAT ADVENTURE " . At the beginning of the week , a decent size group of ORV fanatics were planning to join Chad & I , but misfortune descended upon them like a cloud of locust on a wheat field! Josh broke his thumb, John blew up his Warrior, Matt was called to a last minute work assignment & NOW Caleb had NO ride! FOUR riders GONE! Another twosome from Virginia were scheduled to arrive, but at 8:00am & NO message waiting for us at Motel 6 counter, Chad & I fired up our rigs & headed off to Mike Yucha's in Shamokin, Pa. for some FUN & ADVENTURE! As we pulled into Mike's yard, it felt strange to see only two rigs where last time for an SBO ride, we had 14 rigs & 20+ riders ! But with the weather being so HOT & DUST still a major factor, this would be to our advantage this fine summer day! Once Mike got over the shock of our sparse group for todays ride, a BIG SMILE spread across his face! The " Three Amigo's " could travel at a decent pace & no one would be affected by the DUST too much. It didn't take long for the three of us to get our quads warmed up & dressed for todays " GREAT ADVENTURE ". Before leaving , Mike informed us that his wife would have pizza & cold beer waiting for the " Three Amigo's " after we spent the day stirring up the coal dust for the duration of the day! With this thought in mind , we set out to cover as much ground as possible & see even more NEW trails. With just three riders , the pace was brisk from the start & continued that way as we slid & zipped amongest one tight twisty trail system after another. Up & over mountain after mountain, criss crossing deep streams to cool off our quads & our bodies. Time FLEW by & before you know it our tummies began to growl ! GRRRRRRRRRR! So off to Burger King to get a hot lunch & bask in the COOL confines of an air conditioned room. After chilling out at Burger King & feeding our faces , I took over the lead & the " Three Amigo's " made a bee line towards Locust Grove & the " 500 Hill "! Mike being a local had NEVER been to the " 500 Hill " & didn't even know that it EXISTED!!!!!!!! |
