| Speedball's head North to Hazelton & train tunnel & points beyond! | ||||||||||||||
| Its 2:00am Saturday morning & I'm brought to a rude awakening by my alarm clock screaming out in the dark confines of my bedroom. The dogs follow me out & wag their tails & look towards the pantry for their dog biscuts which is ALWAYS a morning treat before I head out the door each morning. While the dogs munch away on their dog biscuts , I pack the last of my essentials for the Great Adventure this weekend & before long the Speedball Express is motoring north to a HOT breakfeast at Granny's in Frackville, Pa. & the start of another Great Adventure with my fellow Speedball's . The 200+ miles click off fast on the odometer & by 6:45am , I'm feeding my face & cracking jokes with other riders who have joined Speedy for some good grub. The hands & arms fly in all directions as various members relive Great Adventures experienced over the past few years in one location or another. Today's Great Adventure will be north towards the tunnel near Hazelton, Pa. & points beyond. The terrain is beautiful , BUT extremely rugged at times & makes a rider on a sport quad PUCKER UP & wish he was on a trusty 4x4 like Speedy Racer & others! EVEN the 4x4's must be very careful to not get careless or we could become disabled or worse yet HURT just as well ! Most of the ride is typical Pa. turf , but to gain access to our new found ORV turf , SOME very steep & rugged sections , test your skills to the MAX!!!!! This ride is NOT for the women & children!!!! Also extra fuel is carried by all who can to extend our range for the day. DO NOT want to backtrack till a FULL day of adventure has taken place! YAHOOOOOOOO!!!!! By sometime after 8:00am everyone who is going on today's ride is gased up , packed up , quad warmed , dressed & READY for today's trex north ! With the rumble of quad after quad giving the thumb throttle a little pressure the Great Adventure has begun!!!!! Up & over the dirt mound behind Motel 6 the Speedball's head out across the road & into the dense underbrush that becons each & every rider to see WHATS lies around the next bend in the trail or over that NEXT mountain ????????? Once under the steam pipes & on open trails , the jockeying for trail position & bar banging begins to take place! I CAUTION the riders to go easy on the way there to conserve gas , to extend our range & on the way BACK , run as HARD as you want!!!!!!! HE! HE! IF you run out of fuel that last few miles , the 4x4's can tow you back IF need be!!!!! LOL!!!!! |

| On the way to the tunnel many trails like this covered in lush green foliage greet us & make us feel LUCKY to be ALIVE & to be able to experience such wonderous beauty ! But before we head out to this lush forest, I make a stop at a hill climbing mecca for the youngsters! YEHAAAAAA! Before long the sounds of quads screaming up hill after hill echoes through the valley! These hills are not as tall or steep as the infamous " 500 Hill " BUT much tougher due to the SOFT sand like coal banks that make up this hill climb area. Its also MUCH safer than most hills & we ALWAYS have spotters on the hills just in case someone needs rescued ! As you can below NOT all runs at the hills are SUCCESSFUL!!!! HE! HE! |
