Hi Fellow ORV fanatics,
The weatherman has predicted ALL week that this upcoming weekend will be COLD , so I expect the turn out to be small. ONLY the HARDCORE atv fanatics will brave this type of weather to scuttle across the mountains of Pa. With this thought in mind , I lay my head down & do my best to catch a few hours of shut eye before this AARP body must fire up the Speedball Express & head north to join my fellow Speedballs for our next Great Adventure.
2:00am comes real fast  when the Sand Man doesn't pay a visit until 11:00pm the night before! But I'm excited & stumble out of bed & before long have the Speedball Express zipping up the highway to join the Speedball's who've decided to brave this FRIGID weather to
join Speedy Racer for a day of frosty fun! LOL!!!!!!! The miles tick off fast & before long I see the exit sign for Frackville, Pa.                                                            After making my normal stop at Motel 6 in Frackville, Pa.  to secure my warm bunk for the night & feeding my famished gut  at Granny's across the street , I depart for Shamokin, Pa. at 8:00am as usual, after confirming that no one else wants to brave the frigid weather conditions aboard thier trusty ORV. The trip to Shamokin, Pa. lasts about 1/2 hour & as I pass through Ashland, Pa. I see first hand the havoc that Old Man Winter has bestowed upon this sleepy mountain town. The Water Co. has the main street partially blocked off & are repairing a water main  that succumbed to the night after night of  ZERO degree temperatues. I sure hope I brought enough clothes to keep this AARP body from suffering the same fate as the water main .                                                      As I pull into the K-mart parking lot, I see two vehicles with members from Team Yamaha waiting to join Speedy Racer for today's frosty jaunt across the mountains. Mike Yucha & Dave have decided that just like Speedy, they were going to RIDE today , regardlesss of what Old Man Winter was going to throw at us! HA! HA!
After unloading our BLOCKS OF ICE , oops! I mean atv's !!! HE! HE!  Dave & I have to coax our quads to life in such COLD conditions, where as Mike's Raptor had just come from a heated garage, and fired upwith the first push of the " start button " .  But within 15 minutes our quads are warmed up & with FOUR layers of clothes straining to keep out the COLD  out & the body HEAT in , off we head towards Mt. Carmel & the MOON!!!!!
Being so COLD the pace is modest to say the least!!!!! HE! HE! With the ACTUAL temperature ZERO  & with the chill factor around MINUS 20 degrees below ZERO at our cruising speed, it takes   7.5 miles for Speedy to suffer a frozen MUG!!! HE! HE!

Speedy's beard  is a FROZEN
& my  sinus drainage had formed
" SNOT ICICLES " at the end of my nose!!! HA! HA! BUT were are  having a BLAST & after removing the snot icicles from the tip of my nose, so I could breath, our merry trio of ORVer's continues our travels towards Mt. Carmel & the " Moon " .
