EAST COAST SPEEDBALLS
                       NEWSLETTER
                   JULY 20 & 21 , 2002
   Hi Folks,
After having a tough week at work & READY for my upcoming vacation, the Sand Man didn't have to fight too hard to keep me under his spell this night! At 2:00am some Oldie's  Rock & Roll music began to penetrate my ZZZZZ's & bring Mr. GPS to an awake status. With some difficulty I began the process of limbering up this AARP body for another " Great Adventure " with my fellow SPEEDBALLS.
Before long I was north bound towards the hills of Pennsylvania & the chance to create some more MAJIC moments in life with some very good folks. With a frosty ice tea & its caffiene keeping me alert in the never ending watch for deer, I made good time & rolled into Motel 6 parking lot in Frackville, Pa.  around 6:30am & headed right over to Granny's to get some good grub & await the other riders I knew would be joining me soon to fill thier bellies also. Sure enough one ride after another filtered in, until two tables were occupied with SPEEDBALLS anxious to hit the trails & inquiring what route I had planned for them today?  We sure bring this establishment to life with our high energy & HAPPY bantering about quads & hills & life in general! Things get somewhat quiet as everyone begins to stuff thier faces with the steaming hot grub in front of them.
Once bellies are full we head over to unload & hit the trails.  Some faces we hadn't seen for awhile decided to join us this fine day! Jim & his new 2002 Polaris Scrambler , Trenton & his Yamaha YZ426 dirt bike & Andrew & his Kodiak 4x4 showed up unexpected BUT welcome! Mike Yucha & his Raptor  & Chad & his 502ex would be the bad boys today! Jim Reiter's  400ex & me & my Yamaha Grizzly would be the slugs today! HA! HA!
Before long we fired up our ORV's & headed out for parts unknown? Due to the failure of the weatherman to deliver ANY measurable precipitation the pace would be MODEST at best! DUST would our biggest challange once again, but NO ONE really cared as long as we were together enjoying the GREAT OUTDOORS !!!!!!!!
With EVERYONE excited about exploring & finding new hills to climb & mountains to traverse & places to see ,our happy group eased out of Motel 6 in a cloud of dust & headed east towards Pottsville & points beyond. As we crossed mountain after mountain the squeals of delight & constant bantering among our riders meant all was well. This particular run I usually take the guys on Sunday , so as to avoid contact with any workers who might be doing service work in the general area of the resevoirs. This one area is a ?????? but so far I've been welcomed as long as I take my group through SLOW & stay on ESTABLISHED trails! Remember this !!!!!! IF YOU'VE BEEN THERE & NO ONE CAN TELL YOU'VE BEEN THERE, THEN YOU DID YOUR JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!
