| Hi Speedballs, Its 12:30am Saturday morning & my mind WILL NOT let my body lay prone in this bed anymore! The e-mails the past few weeks have come in bunches & I have NO idea HOW MANY ORV fanatics will be in Pennsylvania for this upcoming ride?????? I am sure there will be the MOST ever for a Speedball event! So once I wash my face , brush my teeth , fill my cooler with homemade ice tea , I fire up the Speedball Express & begin the four hour trex north to the hills of Pa. Our website has reached out & touched so many folks these last few months, that the names are just a blurr at the moment! I have even gotten e-mail from Florida locals who are waiting for us to come down once again for some winter fun in the sun! ALL I know for sure is that the woods of Pa. will be filled with SPEEDBALLS this upcoming weekend!!!! As my AARP mind ponders WHAT today will bring , the miles go by FAST & before long I'm sitting in Motel 6's parking lot in Frackville, Pa. at 5:00am looking at rig after rig full of ORV's of all sizes & makes. Knowing that ALOT of folks won't arrive until around 8:00am, I'm stunned at the thought of HOW MANY ORV fanatics will actually show up for todays ride! So when 6:00am rolls around , lights flicker on from within the rooms & before long Speedballs are spilling out onto the parking lot & the arms start waving in all directions as stories from past GREAT ADVENTURES are being shared with the newcomers. Before long Granny's is brimming with hungry Speedballs & hello's are exchanged among those feasting on thier hot breakfeast. After a good hot breakfeast , its off to the parking lot to greet everyone as they arrive & get organized for the jaunt to Shamokin, Pa. & the K-mart parking lot . As 8:00am approaches , BOTH parking lots are FULL of ORV fanatics waiting to go RIDING!!!!!!! Not too long afterwards , a MILE long caravan of Speedballs are southbound down I-81 towards Shamokin, Pa. As we pull into the K-mart parking lot, Mike Yucha our local trail guide is there to greet us & as truck after truck rumbles into the parking lot he jaw begins to drop further & further as rig after rig pulls into a parking slot! When the last rig is parked , I glance over at Mike & I see this wide eyed expression of DISBELIEF plastered across his face!!!! " HOLY SHIT " Are the first words to pop out of his mouth as I saunter over to get a hug & warm hand shake from my newfound ATV buddy. |
