   EAST COAST SPEEDBALLS Visit
  Hatfield  McCoy Trails  in  September
Hi Folks,
Its Friday afternoon as I ease the Speedball Express  out of Mechanicsvile, Md. & head towards the Rt. 301 bridge. Chad & Russ are going to meet Speedy Racer at Exit # 205 on  I-81 southbound at the truck stop & proceed there to Beckley , WV & sleep over at Super 8 Motel until Saturday morning.

As I cruise along I-64 westbound towards  the truckstop, my mind begins to wander back to our last misadventure in May , when the Speedballs almost got washed off the mountains  in WV during a series of gulley washer rain storms that flooded Mattewan, WV  & nearby towns. Without rain gear & other needed supplies , Mark, Russ & I experienced one of our MOST challanging adventures! We rode those mountains from 9:00am to 9:00pm under the severest conditions possible! When we FINALLY rattled into camp, we were TOTALLY exhausted & nearly frozen.  Our fingers were formed to our handgrips as we willed ourselves to make that LAST mountain . But this time we were PREPARED & READY for WHATEVER Mother Nature would throw at us!!!!!  Russ & I had our 4x4's with rain gear, extra clothing  & tow cables to assist us if we got into trouble or bad weather. Chad on his 502ex would have a few Big Brother 4x4 quads to back him up if it really got tough!

The miles flew by & before I realized it, I was shaking hands & getting hugs from my waiting atv buddies. After refueling the Speedball Express , it was time to make tracks for Super 8 Motel in Beckley, WV. & get rested up for Saturday's  GREAT ADVENTURE!!!!! Within a few hours the Speedballs were all snuggled beneath the soft covers in our Super 8 Motel room  & the ZZZZZZZZZZZZ' s soon followed.

At 6:00am Saturday morning , I rousted my fellow atv fanatics from the comforts of thier warm beds & soon were  off to Bob Evan's to get some hot grub & plan todays upcoming adventure. During breakfeast , it was agreed that the " Rockhouse Trail " would get visited first , since it was our favorite & the atv fanatics from Paatving.com were more than likely to be tearing up the same trails during the course of the day. A few other Speedballs were camping & traveling with the Paatving.com group , but my AARP bones would have NO part of the camping routine! HE! HE! After a HARD day on the trail, a HOT shower & SOFT bed , are MANDITORY for this aging atv fanatic! HA! HA!
