   EAST COAST SPEEDBALLS Visit
  Hatfield  McCoy Trails  in  September
        September 22 , 2002 ( day 2 )
Sunday morning at 6:00am the skys are still dark & my ORV buddies are  still cutting ZZZZZZZZ's  , so I tip toe out of the room & fire up the Speedball Express & head for the all nite gas station. The weatheman is calling for rain most of the day, so I get my gear together & fill up my gas cans & do a quick check of my Grizzly. I love to get up early , on account of its so peaceful this time of the day!
By 7:30 am the sleeping beauties have turned  off the ZZZ's, slipped on thier clothes  & stumbled across the parking lot to join me for breakfeast at Shoney's. During breakfeast , we decide to ride the Buffalo Mountain Trail system today & visit our favorite eating place in Matewan, WV. for lunch  & say hi to Donna .  Donna is a very pretty woman with a big smile &  quick wit who loves to fill the bellies of us ORV fanatics with her good home style cooking.
Her voice has such a " twang " , that I mock her & imitate her to the point that she soon directs her quick witted comments in my direction! HA! HA!

Once the breakfeast buffet has been ravaged by the Speedballs , we fire up our respective rigs & head down        Rt. 119 south towards Williamson, WV & the Buffalo Mountain trailhead. Fully rested & eager to hit the trails, its not long before the Speedballs are bouncing along the  trail towards Matewan, WV. The skys are very dark & the air is thick with the heavy mist that fills the air, so " rain gear " is the standard attire for the day. With the heavy mist , the trails have become as slick as owl SH - T !!!!!! But just like the mailman ,  RAIN , SNOW or SHINE we push on & traverse up & down one mountain after another , relishing the thrill of doing what we LOVE to do!!!!!! Enjoying the GREAT OUTDOORS with fellow Speedballs !!!!!!!!! Being such a foul weather day  , we stay strickly to the " Green  " &  " Blue " rated  trails . From time to time the sun pokes it beaming head out from between the clouds , but never for very long. Along the way , we pass by some extremely interesting rock formations on the crest of these mountains! Almost looks like the water use to be this deep & it receded over the years.
