| EAST COAST SPEEDBALLS Visit Hatfield McCoy Trails in September September 23 , 2002 ( day 3 ) |
| Monday morning promises to be the BEST day of the three for riding as far as weather goes , so I have my ORV fanatics up at the crack of dawn & fed & heading down Rt. # 10 towards Mann, WV. at FIRST sun light. During breakfeast, I WARNED the guys that today , I wasn't going to turn off the ignition on my Grizzly UNTIL my tripometer registered 100 + miles!!!!! That number of miles in ONE DAY on these mountains would mean that the Speedballs would do some SERIOUS trail riding today! The " Rockhouse Trail " is our favorite trail system to date , since it has very diverse terrain in terms of steep technical trails , plus sections where you can Speedball at semi-warp speed without risking life & limb. So day THREE would be spent exploring the trails we missed on day ONE & going back to trails like Trail # 29 that got your butt to pucker up at times !!!! HA! HA! With NO rain forecast for today , but still HUGE mudholes from yesterdays drenching rain , rain gear was donned by all. After refueling & warming up our quads, the Speedballs set our for the start of another GREAT ADVENTURE!!!! Having ridden 70 miles on Saturday & 55 miles on Sunday our bodies were now acusstomed to the rigors of our quads bouncing to & fro as we traversed up & down these mountains, so the pace was brisk from the start. Being our fourth trip to these parts you'd think that we'd get use to the AWESOME views seen atop these mountains, but NOT so! I have to force myself to keep on riding as one spectacular view after another flashes before my eyes. But every so often I MUST stop & capture it on film for all to see. |
