Newsletter Day # 3 Oliver Springs, Tenn.
After a quick stop for a hot breakfeast its off to Oliver Springs, Tenn. to start Day # 3 of this GREAT ADVENTURE.
Before long , quads are refueled , packed & headed up Trail # P-1 to gain acess to the main trail across the mountains. Our pace is modest , so as to conserve fuel to increase our range for todays exploration of these Tenn. mountains. Within a few hours we've reached the " Flats  " playground area , but this is where the fun starts! HE! HE!  From this point on who knows what we may find???

Before leaving  the " Flats  " I snap a shot of the Valley below  &  encased in the early morning fog , I  can clearly see why they call this region the " Smokey Mountains " .
After a few snapshots , time to find more NEW trails , so off we go eastward & points beyond. At the end of the " Flats " , I spot trails going in every which direction & finally pick one &  so begins our adventure into the " unknown ". HE! HE! The trail gets narrower & steeper as it descends down the mountain , so we proceed with caution. Some ruts are  deep enough in the corners ,  that hunters has have placed boards across the trails at 45 degree angles to make the transistion not quite so treacherous. This wonderous descent down the mountain lasts for mile after mile until we finally see signs of civilization & retreat back up the mountain , but bear right at a fork in the road & head off in another undetermined direction to see where this rugged trail will  finally lead our hardy group of ORV fanatics?

As we follow this trail , it gets steeper & more rutted the higher up we go & before long all three quads are spinning & scratching up this apparent drag line for some logging outfit! BOY THIS IS FUN!!!!! After a few miles the trail ends at a cliff  where the loggers have stopped for now , but with just enough level ground to make for a good place to eat some lunch & plan our afternoons adventure.
